About 2" snow around Ashton. Kids already made a snowman Probably some schools closed today does not help roadworks on Bolton Road all week delays of up to a hour yesterday I tried to visit Yvonne in hospital left our house and after 15 mins could not even get off the estate onto Bolton Road completely gridlocked, gave up and went home. I have to go to the chemist on Wigan Road this afternoon to pick up some tablets will walk it both ways no good getting the car out or catching a bus if yesterday was anything to go by.

Many of the roads are blocked this morning around Shevington, SLG & Standish, try and stay at home if you can

I've just cancelled an appointment at Leigh Infirmary...I live on a main road and already a couple of cars seem stranded...I'll take them a drink out shortly...that is if I can get down my path without slipping.

Don't attempt to go to the Tesco Extra in Wigan as you might find you cannot get off as the traffic lights around the store are grid locked worse than normal.

A situation not helped by idiots ignoring red lights and being selfish by not helping others.

It's what I've been dreading.

Snow was around 3/4" thick on my car and, because of my latest diagnosis when I was in hospital over Christmas, I found it the divil's own job clearing it off. I ended up just clearing the windows as I couldn't manage the rest.

Driving in it doesn't bother me, but I'm terrified of walking in it, most especially if it turns to ice. They were surprised to see me at work this afternoon, and getting off the estate was a bit of a challenge, but the main roads were clear so it was okay.

Not popping to the shop tonight though.

A broom with a soft bristle yed is the weapon of choice for clearing snow off the car. Do over the drivers door first because, If you open the door with snow on the roof, it falls inside the car and on the seat,

Been caught out with that.

When car gets a snow covering whilst you are out and don't have a broom to hand.

When I lived in Littleborough (1970's), a couple of occasions, a spade was needed to access the car.
